It’s January 2, 2011, the holiday festivities have come to a close, and we’re winding down and reflecting on the past year. So, how do we sum up a year that was important to us on so many levels? First and foremost, we welcomed our son Tyler Matthew into the world. It was easily the most inspiring and miraculous moment that we had ever experienced, but the year was already going strong by the time he joined us in October…
We started our 2010 wedding season shooting Sarah and Domingo’s wedding at the Merion Tribute House. They had flown in all the way from California, and we were in awe with the creativity and personalization they put into their wedding day. Next was Hannah and Mike’s wedding in downtown Philadelphia. Their reception at the Mutter Museum was kept rocking by the amazing DJ Isaac. We shot Christina and Tim’s wedding the next weekend at the historic Smithville Inn. We were both photographers and guests and this wedding, and it was incredible being part of their day. We celebrated Rich’s birthday shooting Andrea and Justin’s wedding. Their day was so unique, starting with their “first look” at the Borders bookstore where they first met. We started the month of May with Monica and Alex’s engagement session. The high winds almost forced us to reschedule the session, but Monica and Alex persevered and we wandered around the Rutgers campus, hearing the stories about how and where they had met. In mid-May, we shot Kristin and Dominick’s engagement session in Kristin’s father’s backyard. It was so incredible, we need to talk to him about renting it out for shoots! We kicked off the summer shooting Marge and Pete’s wedding reception in Red Bank. Rich grew up with both Marge and Pete’s families, and it was so special seeing them join together. The month of July started with Anthony and Monica’s wedding. It was a wedding that joined two individuals, two families, and two cultures with food, dancers, and World Cup celebrations. At this point we have to be sure to thank Tom Janz. As Anne progressed in her pregnancy, we knew she’d need to take a break from shooting at some point. Tom’s shooting style fit in with ours seamlessly, and we can’t thank him enough. August led us into shooting Amie and Dan’s wedding. It was the the quintessential, small town wedding, and Amie even arrived to the church in a classic Ford Model T. At this point, we launched a new wedding website featuring an all new design, branding, and logo. We also launched our Facebook fan page and we’re well on our way to reaching 600 “likes”. The end of August saw us shooting a busy double-header weekend. We traveled to Connecticut to shoot Kim and Rob’s wedding at the Harkness Estate in Waterford. The grounds of the estate were incredible, and Kim’s pink shoes fit in perfectly with the beautiful late summer colors. The second half of the weekend was spent shooting Cristina and Ryan’s engagement session at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum. A wedding reception was taking place on the grounds at the same time, so we enjoyed some background music while shooting. We started September off at the Olde Mill Inn shooting Kristin and Dominick’s wedding. Kristin’s dad had the entire reception both laughing and crying, and Dominick entertained the crowd by taking the mic and guitar at the end of the night. The next weekend, we were at the Phoenixville Foundry for Monica and Alex’s wedding. This was our second time at the Foundry, but this time we ventured into town and had some fun stopping traffic. In first weekend of October, Rich and Tom traveled to Rhode Island to be part of Alex and Khayree’s wedding day. The fact that Khayree is also a photographer allowed us to really explore and try some new things. Our son was born October 12th and on that day, everything seemed to mean so much more. Love seemed sweeter and this “job” of shooting weddings became even more fun. By the time Katie and Mike’s wedding rolled around at the end of October, we were ready to party and they didn’t disappoint. Katie and Mike partied hard all night and the DJ’s kept the tunes spinning. We traveled to King of Prussia to shoot Kristin and Chris’ engagement session the day before Halloween. Anne already has her TOMS shoes for their 2011 wedding. In November, we headed to Lenape High School for Amanda and Vince’s engagement session. The high school marching band joined us, and their enthusiasm was contagious. We finished up our year of shooting just 3 weeks ago with Brian and Crystal’s wedding at the Highlawn Pavilion. Whew!
In addition to the weddings and engagement sessions, we also had a blast shooting family and children’s portraits. It was such an incredible year, and we can’t wait to see what 2011 brings.
