At first, many people would think that Tara and John’s wedding was very non-traditional. The ceremony was held on the streets of New York City. There was no “first dance”. There were no speeches. There was no cake cutting. But what Tara and John did have was an intimate ceremony where they declared their love for each other in front of family, friends, tourists, restaurant guests, and random passersby. We didn’t know how a wedding in such a public place could feel like such a private affair, but Tara and John pulled it off, and at the very root of it a wedding doesn’t get more traditional than two people declaring their love for each other in front of the world. The ceremony was followed by a casual dinner reception at the India House Club where family and friends mingled and danced the night away to the sounds of Robbie Scott and the New Deal Orchestra.
