Yesterday, we had the pleasure of photographing Claudia & Mike’s wedding. When we think of that day, there is one concept that keeps coming back to us… history. All of Claudia & Mike’s details were just dripping with history and their wedding day was like a crash course in the history of their journey to get to this day.
Claudia & Mike’s ceremony was held at the St. Thomas of Villanova church on Villanova University campus, were Claudia went to school. We’ve worked there in the past, and it is one of the most beautiful churches we’ve ever seen. This time, however, Claudia & Mike added a little bit of extra history to the ceremony. The priest that presided over the ceremony married Claudia’s mom and dad, and baptized Claudia. Once the ceremony was over, we headed out onto Villanova’s campus for group photos, including one at the famed “Oreo”, the center of Villanova’s social life on campus. We couldn’t just capture Claudia’s educational history, though, so we headed over to St. Joseph’s Prep school to take some pictures in front of the Church of Gesu and strolled among Elm trees that line the campus. Mike and all of his brothers have attended St. Joseph’s Prep, and it is a proud tradition in the family.
With Claudia & Mike’s history prior to dating covered, it was time to capture some locations that are now important to them as a couple. Claudia & Mike first met at a Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Young Professionals meeting. It was the first such event that Mike had ever attended. They talked, hit it off, exchanged cards, and that’s when disaster struck. Mike, intending to contact Claudia, had misplaced her card! Luckily, fate stepped in and Mike ended up finding the card. Eventually, they met up and had their first date at Devon, a restaurant on Rittenhouse Square. They now call the city of brotherly love, home. It seemed only fitting to hit some of the famous Philadelphia landmarks, including the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum with the Philadelphia skyline in the background, and Broad Street with City Hall in the background. The reception was held at the Philadelphia Society Hill Sheraton and Lovesick Inc. got the party going with a constant string of music that worked the room into a frenzy.
