On Friday, we found ourselves at Normandy Farm in Blue Bell, PA. We’ve never shot a wedding there before and yet, it seemed pleasantly familiar because we had been part of Rich’s sister’s wedding there 4 years ago. It also felt familiar because we had never met Melinda and Chris in person until the night before the wedding and yet, they welcomed us into their group like old friends. Melinda and Chris live in Austin, Texas but grew up in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. When it came to wedding planning, they chose to come back to where they grew up, and their friends and family joined them for support and celebration.
The connection to us goes a little deeper than most with Melinda and Chris, but we didn’t really discover how until about half way through the wedding day. Anyone that knows us knows that we love our pug, Dave, and that he played a critical role when we got engaged. Both Melinda and Chris at different points in the day, told us the story of their engagement and it was similar to our own engagement story. They had a new dog at home and Chris had decided to propose by getting Chase a new collar with a tag asking Melinda to marry him. When Melinda arrived home from work, Chris was anxious for her to see it. He said, “Hey Mel, I got Chase a new collar, check it out.” Mel was busy telling Chris a story and she didn’t get to check it out right away. Chris said again, “Mel, check out the dog’s collar.” At this point, Mel started to get a little annoyed, she was telling Chris a story and he kept interrupting her about the dog collar. “Fine,” she said. The annoyance quickly disappeared when she saw that Chris had inscribed the collar with “Mel, will you marry me”
