This past weekend we photographed Rachael and Mike’s wedding at the Orange Lawn Tennis Club. It was a long time coming as Rachael and Mike have been together for 12 years, but it was never a question of IF they were going to tie the knot, but when. So, what took so long? Sarah, Rachael and Mike’s friend (who just happened to be the one marrying them) put it best. “during that time, there were countless high school football games, and handful of hockey games, 2 high school diplomas, about 40 college football games (Go Monmouth!), 2 college degrees, several jobs, many rent payments made and finally a mortgage. ” These two have been building a life together, one step at a time and this was just the next piece of the puzzle to fall perfectly into place.
For us, it was a long time coming as well. We first met Rachael, four years ago, while photographing her cousin Katie & Mike’s wedding. Rachael was the first bridesmaid that introduced herself to us that day. She helped gather up shoes and jewelry and the wedding dress for some detail shots as Katie was getting ready. She told us that day that she was a graphic designer and that she really liked our work. That compliment felt especially good when she reached out to us as she was planning her own wedding.
And what a wedding it was. The venue was perfect, offering an amazing outdoor ceremony location tucked under a giant oak tree on the grounds of the Orange Lawn Tennis Club. There wasn’t an inch of property that hadn’t been touched by Rachael’s graphic design talents. She designed the ribbons hanging behind them during the ceremony, the artwork in the venue, the monogrammed programs, menus, coasters, etc. It all came together perfectly even down to the band, Imagine, that rocked the party all night long.
