Sometimes the simplest decision can forever change the path of your life. You might not realize it; you may never even know it was a choice, but it can send you on a path in life that you never saw coming. For Sheri and Joe, that moment came when they both decided to attend a Halloween party that was being thrown by a mutual friend. Joe managed to piece together a curly black wig with a top hat and a nose ring to become Slash, the guitarist from Guns & Roses, while Sheri came as Pocahontas. Eventually, they were introduced at the party and that’s when the sparks flew. Sheri can still recall the feeling she felt when she asked Joe to remove his rock star sunglasses; she looked into his eyes and knew something special was happening.

On the day after Halloween, we joined Sheri and Joe for their wedding ceremonies and reception at the Glen Island Harbor Club in New Rochelle, NY. It was really interesting to see the way that Sheri and Joe incorporated their different cultures and religions by having both a traditional western style ceremony and a Zoroastrian wedding ceremony. Sheri’s father said during his speech that it has rained during most of their big family celebrations including Sheri’s sister’s Sweet 16 and her brother’s wedding. Well, rain was upon them again all day long at Sheri and Joe’s wedding, but that didn’t stop anyone from having a great time. And as the reception ended at midnight, everyone sang a very special Happy Birthday to Sheri.
