The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was originally founded in New York City in 1868 as a social club in an attempt to elude New York City’s laws regarding the opening hours of public taverns. It is this social club aspect of the Elks that led Kurt and Kacey to meet each other and ultimately get married last weekend.
Kacey got involved with her local Elks chapter because she was organizing some events in her town. Kurt got involved with his local Elks chapter when he bought a motorcycle and began doing some motorcycle runs with them. On May 23, 2015 Kacey and Kurt met when their two lodges were coordinating a event that both would take part in, and it’s clear that they were truly meant for each other.
We joined Kurt and Kacey last weekend at the Harlingen Reformed Church in Belle Meade, NJ to capture their wedding day and it was a day steeped in history and family tradition. The church was beautiful, dating back to the 1700’s. That history and family tradition theme continued with Kacey arriving to the church in her dad’s 1931 Cadillac V12. After they exchanged their vows at the church, Kurt and Kacey headed to the Chauncey Center in Princeton where the family was finally completed when they were joined by their Westie, Izzy.
Congratulations Kurt and Kacey!
