You often hear the cliche that a bride has planned her wedding day since she was a little girl and certainly that’s probably true to some extent for many brides, but Megan has literally been planning this day for the past 25 years. As a child, Megan and her family would come up to Cooperstown, NY for the summer season to help out at their family-owned motel, The Lake View Motel. Megan fell in love with the scenery and the small town feel of Cooperstown and always dreamed of having her wedding there some day.
We first met Megan 6 years ago when we photographed her sister Amie’s wedding. When we saw Amie’s Facebook post saying that her sister had gotten engaged, we were hoping they would remember us because we had so much fun working with their family. When we got the inquiry from Megan and Nick, we were thrilled. We spent an afternoon in Philadelphia with them for their engagement session and got truly excited for the wedding they were planning.
Megan got ready at her family’s motel and every single room was rented out by guests, friends and family. The ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Cooperstown. After the ceremony, we headed out on Lake Otsego on the family boat for photos with the lake backdrop and the famous Kingfisher Castle. The reception was held on the lawn of the Fenimore Art Museum and the views of the lake as the sun set were incredible. Megan, Nick and their families and friends partied all night long and then did a sparkler exit out onto the rear lawn, where everyone was treated to the annual Cooperstown 4th of July fireworks show.
Congratulations Megan & Nick! Enjoy your honeymoon!
